Lieutenant Hauser repels halfway down the side of the building and starts making
loud noises to attract zombies away from the other side of the building where
the group plans to repel to the ground and make a run for it. The group makes it
to the ground and starts to run away but several sprinters start chasing so the
group has to stop and kill the sprinters before running into the woods. The
sprinters can run just as fast as the group but they will never tire or get
fatigued.
The group brings along a new guy that they just met in the warehouse and also a
few other men. The new guy, Alex, a tin foil hat wearing man who swears he
knew this was coming and the government started it all just to keep his ideas
from going public. Alex is from Raleigh and he will guide the group to the
nearest Walgreens store.
Carefully the group enters Raleigh and starts their journey through the war torn
city. The city is a mess of broken windows, uncontrolled fires, and wrecked
vehicles. Sporadic gun fire can be heard and occasionally an explosion. At an
intersection in Raleigh the group sees three soldiers holed up in the back of an
armored car shooting zombies that are trying to get at them. Amanda decides to
help them and starts shooting with her M16 for the first time. She is a natural
with the M16, zombies are “dying” like dogs. Unfortunately the three soldiers
run out of ammo and the zombies rush in before they can all be shot. One of the
soldiers pulls the pin on a grenade and the rest of the zombies get blown out of
the opening of the armored car and into the street in little burning pieces of
flesh and bone. The armored car is ruined and can’t be used to drive the rest of
the way.
Further into the city a there is a natural gas explosion and a side of a
building bursts onto the group. Many are hurt, unfortunately there is no time to
rest or apply any kind of first aid because the explosion has summoned a large
crowd of sprinters and a few feral demon babies. The fight is fierce but the
group manages to finish them off, then takes a few minutes to bandage the
wounded before moving on.
